Cherokee Among N.C. Arts Groups To Get $7.7 million In Grants Arts groups and projects throughout the state received $7.7 million in grants to promote the economic and cultural vitality of local communities, the state Department of Cultural Resources announced Sept. 9. Recipients include the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, Pocosin Arts in Columbia, the Stecoah Valley Arts, Crafts & Educational Center in Robbinsville, and arts councils in Caldwell, Chatham, Johnston, Lenoir and Yancey counties.
